Note
The tombstone found for Mary John in Monongalia, West Virginia, who died in 1846 at the age of 94 must be for the wife of David John, because William John's wife, Mary, was born before 1745 because she and William were both children when they immigrated aboard the same ship from Wales. Thomas John Jr.s wife's name is not known, but he remained behind in Chester county, Pennsylvania when the family moved to Virginia, so would not have been buried there. John John never married and died during the Revolutionary War. James John's wife was Mary Williams, but they left Virginia for Ohio in 1788. Lastly, Lemuel married Rhehama Kirkhart. So unless William or Lemuel had a later wife, Mary John must have been David John's wife. Since their daughter, Catherine John, married John Lovell who was born about 1778, and therefore she probably was also, then Catherine oldest sibling was probably for around 1776 making Mary John, born about 1752, the correct age to be their mother.
