<SourceTemplates>

The <SourceTemplates> option can be used to define any number of source citation templates that can be used to format how source metadata is displayed. Neither source templates or source metadata are included as part the stardard GEDCOM record fields. You can use the <Sources> option to add metadata to your existing sources, or for standalone-bloggers, to add new sources with metadata. Gigatrees5 supports many non-standard GEDCOM source metadata records as provided from a number of genealogy applications, including: Series, Society Info, Supplemental Author Role, Creator, Compiler, Database Title, Media, Edition, Website Creator, Periodical, Type, Remarks and Annotation. For source references, the RefPage and Quotation elements are also supported. By default, Gigatrees5 uses built-in default template definitions that are designed to include all supported source metadata. You only need to redefine the templates fields if the defaults do not meet your needs.

Creating source citations templates is more art than science. Elizabeth Shown Mills' book, Evidence Explained provides some ready examples. When defining templates, braces ( { and } ) are used to delimit conditional statements and the percent symbol ( % ) is used to delimit substitution elements. If none of the the source citation elements specified within a conditional statement are defined, the entire conditional will be discarded. Text and HTML may be included.

Gigatrees:
<SourceTemplate> This tag indicates the start of a new source template
<Id> [ ] A unique id
<Title> [ ] The source template title. This is not used by Gigatrees5.
<FullCitation> [ (See <SourceTemplates>) ] This template it to be used whenever a full source citation is required, namley on the source pages.
<Footnote> [ (See <SourceTemplates>) ] This template is to be used for the first footnote shown for a source on a page in <BlogPosts>.
<ShortFootnote> [ (See <SourceTemplates>) ] This template is to be used for subsequent footnotes shown for a source on a page in <BlogPosts>.
<IbidFootnote> [ (See <SourceTemplates>) ] This template is to be used for footnotes to the same source that immediately follow it. The Ibid Footnote template will be immediately preceded by the word ibid., so it should not be included in the template.
